Wading access is limited to section just below the dam for the most part. River is best fished from a boat due to this limited access. You can park just below the dam (don't block the ramp please) and fish right there and downstream a few hundred yards.

Hope this helps!

Awesome article. I live in Charlotte and have been hearing about this section from the guys in my local shop. How is the wading access and is there a decent place to park and fish a bit?

I was considering going up to Lake Lure to fish the Rocky Broad on Sunday, but I'd rather fish closer to home, I just don't know how to get there.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Glad to hear that you are out and about! I never knew how much effort was required to maintain a relationship--with a woman! Haven't been fishing in some time--money too tight to mention. Cathy is unemployed and I am covering everything on a poor man's wages. I have been tying flyz of late though.
Tell Monty and Scott hello for me---miss you too!

Stopped by the powerhouse yesterday and saw a great site..... water flowing out of the NEW powerhouse!!!!! Not sure what was going on but water was flowing. Several workers were standing on the walkway watching the water flowing out of the new powerhouse. Phone message said "No Generation Scheduled" but the flow was HUGE!

So not sure when everything will get rolling but it sure was nice seeing the water flowing.
